Jazz owner Ryan Smith backs current leadership

Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith has expressed his continued support for head coach Will Hardy and the team’s front office despite the franchise’s ongoing struggles.

During a recent appearance on KSL Sports in Salt Lake City, Smith addressed Utah’s inconsistent performances and made it clear that he has no plans to make major organizational changes.

“Will’s our guy. Austin’s our guy. Like, we’re not changing anything,” Smith said about head coach Will Hardy and front office leader Austin Ainge. “We’re going to go through this, we’re going to work together. We got (CEO) Danny (Ainge), and I love our group.”

Smith acknowledged that the Jazz’s inconsistency has been frustrating, although he noted that injuries have contributed to the team’s difficulties.

He also emphasized that Utah’s management understands rebuilding the franchise into a championship contender will take several years.

“There’s only so many levers you can pull given…where you’re at in the season,” Smith said. “We’re definitely looking (at) this as a two, three, four year, and our goal is to win the championship.”
