A potential return to the Los Angeles Lakers appears unlikely for Anthony Davis if the Washington Wizards eventually decide to trade the veteran big man.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed Davis’ situation during a recent appearance on ESPN LA, explaining that Washington is not currently rushing to move him.
Instead, the Wizards want to evaluate Davis over 20 to 30 games before deciding whether to offer him a contract extension or explore trade opportunities.
Windhorst indicated that Davis could become available if he and Washington fail to reach an agreement on a new deal.
However, the NBA insider suggested that the Lakers would be unlikely to acquire Davis in that scenario.
According to Windhorst, Los Angeles does not possess the trade assets Washington would likely seek in exchange for the former Lakers star.
Davis’ future will depend largely on how he performs with the Wizards and whether both sides are interested in continuing their partnership.
Washington is expected to make its decision after getting a better understanding of his fit with the roster.
