Ajay Mitchell scored a career-high 35 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Memphis Grizzlies 128-97 on Friday, extending their dominance in the matchup.
Mitchell shot 14-of-20 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range, adding five assists in 30 minutes. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 28 points, while Jared McCain finished with 21.
The Thunder have now beaten Memphis 16 consecutive times, including a four-game sweep in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Oklahoma City improved to 7-2, while the Grizzlies dropped to 6-3.
Oklahoma City took control with an efficient offensive performance, shooting 55% from the field and 46% from beyond the arc. The Thunder made 16 of 35 three-point attempts and recorded 25 assists.
Memphis struggled from long range throughout the game. The Grizzlies finished 10-of-45 from three-point territory, converting just 22% of their attempts after making only five of 26 in the first half.
The Thunder also capitalized on Memphis’ mistakes, forcing 18 turnovers and turning them into 30 points. Oklahoma City built a 22-point halftime advantage before opening the third quarter with a 12-0 run to extend the margin to 32.
Ty Jerome led Memphis with 21 points and five assists, while Zach Edey added 14 points and six rebounds. Rookie Cameron Boozer struggled with his shooting, going 2-of-14 from the field and missing all eight three-point attempts, but collected 12 rebounds and four assists.
The result continued a strong stretch for Oklahoma City despite injuries to several key players. The Thunder entered Friday after beating Cleveland twice, with Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 43 and 42 points in those victories.
Mitchell has also made the most of his expanded role, averaging 21.6 points over his previous five games before Friday’s career-best performance. His scoring gives Oklahoma City another productive option alongside its leading scorer.
The Thunder host Washington on Saturday, November 7, while the Grizzlies visit Toronto on Monday, November 9.
