Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen is optimistic that his right knee injury is not serious after leaving Wednesday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first quarter.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Allen suffered the injury early in the game and was unable to return.
However, the veteran center downplayed the issue afterward, suggesting that he does not expect a lengthy absence.
Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson explained that Allen “collided knees” with an Oklahoma City player, resulting in his early departure.
Despite the encouraging initial assessment, Allen remains questionable for Cleveland’s upcoming NBA Cup matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Cavaliers are also monitoring rookie guard Tyrese Proctor, who rolled his ankle during the fourth quarter against Oklahoma City.
Proctor was reportedly limping as he left the arena and is also listed as questionable for the Philadelphia game.
Meanwhile, Cleveland continues to manage injuries involving Peyton Watson and Jaylon Tyson.
Watson is recovering from a hamstring issue, while Tyson is dealing with an ankle injury.
Both players remained in Cleveland on Wednesday as part of their return-to-play programs rather than accompanying the team.
Atkinson indicated that neither injury is considered a “long-term” concern, suggesting that both players could return once they complete their recovery process.
