Ty Jerome dismisses NBA rankings and criticism

NBA guard Ty Jerome has made it clear that he pays little attention to player rankings or public opinions about his performances, explaining that outside evaluations can change quickly.

During a conversation with Matt Barnes, Jerome was informed that Bleacher Report had ranked him as the fourth most underrated player in the NBA this season.

“Bleacher Report ranked you as the fourth most underrated player in the NBA this season,” Barnes said.

“Is underrated more of a compliment or an insult to you personally at this point in your career?”

Jerome responded that he does not place much importance on such recognition.

“Not to give you the political answer, but I really don’t care.”

Barnes appreciated his straightforward response.

“You don’t give a f*ck. I love it.”

Jerome explained that constantly reacting to praise and criticism would make it difficult to maintain a consistent mindset throughout the season.

“No, I don’t. I don’t. I think it’s like, it’d be too much if you ride the highs and lows of what people have to say about you.”

Barnes agreed, replying, “Correct.”

Jerome then pointed out how quickly public perception can shift, particularly when fans judge players based on the outcomes of their sports bets.

“It’d be way too much. Like, one day you’re great, one day you suck, one day you don’t cash someone’s parlay, one day you do.”
