Cunningham’s 33 leads Pistons to dominate Hornets 124-91

The Detroit Pistons dominated the Charlotte Hornets 124-91 to earn their third consecutive victory on Monday night.

Cade Cunningham dropped a season-high 33 points, seven assists, five steals, and five rebounds in three quarters with 13 of 20 from the field.

On the other hand, Brandon Miller led the Hornets with 17 points, while Naz Reid added 13 points.

Detroit led most of the game and extended an 11-point halftime lead to 98-75 at the end of the third after making 13 of their first 24 three-pointers.

The Pistons didn ot slow down in the fourth as Robinson and Kevin Huerter hit two straight threes to push the lead to 29, prompting Hornets coach Charles Lee to empty his bench.

Cunningham hurt Charlotte in several ways through transition drives, three-pointers, jumpers, and crosscourt passes to create for his teammates.

The Hornets could never find a rhythm offensively despite the season debut of point guard Coby White.

White took the role for LaMelo Ball earlier this offseason, but missed the first seven games with a calf strain.

The head tactician said before the game that White will be on a minutes restriction for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Kon Knueppel’s return is “right around the corner,” as Lee added.

Both teams will play on Wednesday night: the Pistons host the 76ers, while the Hornets visit Brooklyn.
