The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised their 2027-28 rookie-scale team options on Jared McCain and Thomas Sorber, Michael Scotto reported Sunday, November 1.
McCain’s option is worth $6.78 million, while Sorber’s is valued at $5.12 million.
McCain, 22, is in the third season of a four-year, $19.4 million rookie contract. Sorber, 20, is in the second year of a four-year, $22.5 million deal.
McCain joined Oklahoma City during the 2025-26 season after starting his NBA career with Philadelphia. He averaged 10.4 points in 30 games with the Thunder, shooting 46.2% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
Through six games this season, McCain is averaging 10.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.7 minutes. He has started three games and is shooting 35.9% overall and 32.4% from beyond the arc.
Sorber has yet to make his NBA debut. Oklahoma City selected him 15th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft after his freshman season at Georgetown, where he averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 24 games.
A torn right ACL suffered during an offseason workout in September 2025 ruled Sorber out for the entire 2025-26 season.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in July 2026 and was expected to miss at least four weeks.
The Thunder are 4-2 through six games of the 2026-27 season.
