Lorenzo Brown says Raptors denied him championship ring

Former Toronto Raptors guard Lorenzo Brown has revealed that he never received an NBA championship ring from the franchise following its title-winning 2018/19 season.

Brown was part of Toronto’s roster during the first half of that campaign but was waived on January 7, 2019, several months before the Raptors won their first NBA championship.

The veteran guard appeared in 26 of the team’s first 42 regular-season games before his departure, contributing to Toronto’s early-season success.

Despite spending part of the championship season with the organization, Brown said the Raptors never presented him with a ring.

“I was there, bro. I was there working.”

Brown was not the only former Raptors player who reportedly missed out on receiving a ring.

Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright and C.J. Miles were also left without championship rings after being traded during the 2018/19 season.

Valanciunas appeared in 30 games for Toronto that season, while Wright played 49 and Miles featured in 40 before their departures.

All three were involved in the team’s regular-season campaign but were no longer with the Raptors during their championship run.

During the discussion, Theo argued that Brown deserved recognition for his contribution and urged the organization to reconsider its decision.

“Toronto Raptors, do the right thing. Send him his ring. He’s a part of that.”

The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in six games in the 2019 NBA Finals, securing the first championship in franchise history.
