Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg delivered an impressive all-around performance in his return from injury, helping his team secure a 113-109 road victory over the Miami Heat on Monday.
Flagg had missed Saturday’s game because of a sprained left shoulder but showed no signs of being limited upon returning to the lineup.
The reigning NBA Rookie of the Year played 40 minutes against Miami, finishing with 29 points, six rebounds, five steals, three blocks and 11 assists.
His 11 assists matched his career high and highlighted his continued development as a playmaker for the Mavericks.
Dallas head coach Dusty May was particularly impressed with Flagg’s ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates and believes the young forward is capable of producing even bigger assist numbers.
Speaking after the victory, May suggested that Flagg could eventually record between 15 and 20 assists in a single game as the Mavericks continue improving their offensive execution.
“If we get to where we’re really finding our rhythm offensively, he’s gonna have some 15, 20 assist games,” May said. “There’s no question.”
