Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks due to swelling in his left knee.
An MRI revealed no structural damage, but Toronto plans to give Leonard time to rest before gradually increasing his basketball activities.
Leonard returned to the Raptors during the offseason after being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers.
He subsequently signed a two-year, $115 million contract extension with Toronto in September.
The veteran forward has appeared in two games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.8 minutes per contest.
Leonard is coming off a season in which he played 65 games and earned All-NBA honors.
