Draymond Green backs Nikola Jokic’s message to booing Nuggets fans

Draymond Green agrees with Nikola Jokic’s criticism of Denver Nuggets fans who booed the team during its comeback win over the New Orleans Pelicans, arguing that supporters who turn against their team so quickly should stay home.

Speaking on The Draymond Green Show, the Golden State Warriors forward backed Jokic’s suggestion that fans who booed Denver during Saturday’s game should no longer attend games at Ball Arena.

“Why are you here? Like you’re really not on our side if you start booing us this fast,” Green said. “Like you’ve come in here with a predetermined mindset already. And if you’ve come in here with a predetermined mindset, that mindset for you to be booing us it’s very pessimistic. It’s very negative. So stay your a** at home.”

Green also pushed back against the suggestion that Jokic was not serious when he said the fans who booed the Nuggets were no longer welcome.

“So I agree with Joker on this and it looked like he was dead a**. I hear people the reports in the background laughing. He is not laughing. He is dead serious,” Green added.

Jokic made his comments after Denver rallied from a 23-point deficit to defeat New Orleans 141-135 in overtime on Saturday night. The Nuggets trailed 73-57 at halftime and entered the fourth quarter down 19 points before completing the comeback.

“I’m actually so glad that you mentioned that because we get booed first home game, and I think those fans who booed us, they don’t need to come anymore,” Jokic said after the win. “If you guys follow us, you know that we never quit, and we came back from much worse or similar situations. So, if you ask me, they’re not welcome anymore.”

“If they are Nuggets fans, they should support us,” he added.

Jokic finished with 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, recording his 199th career regular-season triple-double. He scored eight points in overtime as Denver outscored New Orleans 15-9 in the extra period.

Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 42 points and eight three-pointers, while rookie Trevon Brazile contributed 17 points and nine rebounds, including seven points in overtime.

The victory was Denver’s first of the season, improving its record to 1-1 ahead of Monday’s home game against Green’s Warriors. New Orleans dropped to 0-3.
