Devin Booker scored 43 points to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 131-122 victory over the short-handed Golden State Warriors on Saturday night at Mortgage Matchup Center. Booker shot 17 of 25 from the field and added seven rebounds and seven assists as Phoenix won its home opener for the fifth consecutive season.

The Suns improved to 1-1 after suffering a 124-83 defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener. Booker provided the offensive spark against Golden State, scoring 19 points in the first half and another 17 in the third quarter as Phoenix took control of the game.

Phoenix led 57-54 at halftime before outscoring the Warriors 45-38 in the third quarter. Jordan Goodwin hit a three-pointer just before the buzzer to give the Suns a 102-92 advantage heading into the final period.

Golden State stayed within reach early in the fourth, but the Suns gradually pulled away. Luke Kennard knocked down a three-pointer with six minutes remaining to extend Phoenix’s lead to 117-102, helping the home team maintain control down the stretch.
