The New York Knicks are waiving Bruce Brown, while James Wiseman is set to make the team’s regular-season roster as a reserve center.
Shams Charania reported the moves on Saturday, October 17, as New York finalizes its roster for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Brown, 30, is an eight-year NBA veteran who spent the 2025-26 season with the Denver Nuggets. He appeared in all 82 regular-season games, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 24.4 minutes per contest while shooting 47.5% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.
The guard has played for five NBA franchises: the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans, with the latter three accounting for portions of his 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. Across 539 career regular-season games, Brown has averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 47.6% from the field.
Brown was part of Denver’s 2023 championship team before moving to Indiana during the following offseason. He subsequently played for Toronto and New Orleans before returning to Denver for the 2025-26 campaign.
Wiseman, meanwhile, is expected to provide reserve center depth after signing a one-year, minimum-salary contract with New York in September. The Knicks are addressing their frontcourt rotation after Mitchell Robinson joined the Boston Celtics and Ariel Hukporti signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
