The Dallas Mavericks have waived John Poulakidas, opening one of their three two-way contract spots ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.

Marc Stein reported on Saturday, October 17, that Dallas had also waived Seth Lundy. However, Lundy could remain in the organization, with Stein reporting that the forward had emerged as a candidate to fill the newly opened two-way spot.

Lundy was selected 46th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2023 NBA Draft. He played against Atlanta in Dallas’ preseason finale on Friday before the Mavericks made the roster move.

Poulakidas, meanwhile, had attracted interest from Olympiacos in August. The former Yale guard joined Dallas after a college career in which his three-point shooting became a key part of his offensive production.

He subsequently played in the NBA G League with the Ontario Clippers and Texas Legends before appearing in 13 NBA games for Dallas during the 2025-26 season.

Poulakidas averaged 8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 19.5 minutes per game with the Mavericks, shooting 42.9% from the field and 40.3% from beyond the arc. In 37 G League appearances with Ontario, he averaged 12.5 points and shot 45.1% from three-point range.

The roster decision comes as Dallas continues to reshape its team around young talent. The Mavericks selected Morez Johnson Jr. ninth overall in the 2026 draft and acquired former No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher from Atlanta during the offseason.

Dallas also added Santi Aldama and Marcus Sasser through a six-team trade, signed Moussa Cisse to a two-year minimum contract and added Tarik Biberovic. The team has three two-way slots, with Jett Howard and Tobi Lawal among the players signed to such deals.
