It has been more than three months since LaMelo Ball landed in Minnesota, and already played three games this preseason.
The former Hornets guard is doing his part to build early team chemistry alongside Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and the others.
Meanwhile, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said Ball and Edwards are meant to build chemistry on the court, which was the team’s main reason for bringing in the 25-year-old star.
“I haven’t settled on anything with regards to that. My gut tells me that I want them on the floor together. That’s why we brought him here… Also, we have such great trust in like Ayo and Bones and TJ. And we want those guys to have the ball in their hands when they’re in there too. So we don’t feel like we have to stagger. We can if we want. But my gut tells me to play them mostly together,” Finch said, per Dane Moore.
The Wolves center also shared his thoughts on Ball’s playmaking capability and gave some on-court action tips to make their job easier.
“The main thing I tell him is to just slow down with me. You don’t need to go fast, because I’m going to give you an advantage. I told him to watch some clips of me and Joe Ingles pick and rolls. You don’t need to go fast, I’m going to give you an advantage. You can walk,” Gobert added.
Ball joined the Timberwolves through a blockbuster four-team trade, as Minnesota sent a massive package of players and future draft assets to the Charlotte Hornets.
