Tarik Biberovic is learning a different system after moving from Fenerbahce to the Dallas Mavericks, but the rookie does not believe the basketball itself has changed significantly.
After spending eight years in Turkey, Biberovic is now adapting to the faster NBA pace and unfamiliar terminology during his first training camp with Dallas.
“It’s a new system, and I have to adjust for it, but it’s not so hard because the philosophy and the rhythm is a little bit faster, but the idea is the same,” he explained.
“Terminology, it’s been a little bit different. We were talking about this just five minutes ago. He was saying some things, and for me, it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time. But it’s just like this is basketball, so it’s easy.”
Biberovic entered the NBA with considerable professional experience, including playing at the highest level of European club basketball with Fenerbahce.
The Mavericks’ preseason games against the Houston Rockets in Macao provide the 25-year-old with an opportunity to continue learning the system in game situations before the regular season begins.
