Tarik Biberovic believes he has reached the right point in his career to leave European basketball and begin his NBA journey with the Dallas Mavericks.

The 25-year-old spent eight years with Fenerbahce before making the move to Dallas, arriving with significant EuroLeague experience and a championship on his resume.

Asked why he decided to leave Istanbul now, Biberovic offered an unusual description of his development.

“I feel myself marinated,” he mentioned during a media session on Friday, when asked why now was the right time to move on from eight years with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce.

The forward also revealed that he could have pursued an NBA opportunity earlier and had other options available before choosing Dallas.

“I had the opportunity also last year. I actually gave up a lot to be here,” he admitted. “I had very good opportunities back over there, also from different NBA teams.”

The player now believes his experience has prepared him to compete for playing time at the NBA level.

“I’m ready for this challenge,” continued Biberovic. “I’m way more mature, and I know how to be on the court. I’ll give my best to earn every single minute of it.”

Dallas acquired Biberovic’s draft rights in July, giving him an opportunity to compete for a role during the 2026-27 season.
