The Phoenix Suns have signed guard David Stockton to a training camp deal, according to HoopsHype.
Stockton returns to the NBA environment after spending much of his career playing in the G League and overseas. The 35-year-old guard has built an extensive professional résumé since finishing his college career at Gonzaga in 2014.
Stockton spent the majority of his early professional career with the Stockton Kings, averaging 20.1 points and 9.3 assists in 43 games during the 2014-15 season. He also appeared in three games for the Sacramento Kings that season, averaging 2.7 points and 3.0 assists in 11.0 minutes.
He continued to establish himself as a productive G League playmaker, averaging 17.9 points and 7.1 assists in 45 games for the Stockton Kings in 2015-16. During the 2017-18 season, he posted 16.3 points and 5.2 assists in 39 games.
Stockton has also played professionally in Europe and Puerto Rico. His international experience includes stints with Cedevita Zagreb and Medi Bayreuth, while he has played for several Puerto Rican teams.
More recently, Stockton spent the 2024-25 G League season with the Valley Suns, averaging 14.4 points and 6.1 assists in 36 games. He shot 44.1% from the field, 40.3% from three-point range and 84.1% from the free-throw line.
The Suns organization already has familiarity with Stockton after his time with their G League affiliate. His signing now gives him an opportunity to compete for a place on Phoenix’s NBA roster during training camp.
Phoenix is coming off a 45-37 season that ended with a first-round playoff exit. The Suns have undergone several changes during the offseason while attempting to build around Devin Booker and their revamped supporting cast.
Dillon Brooks recently agreed to a three-year, $73 million extension after averaging a career-high 20.2 points per game last season. Phoenix also re-signed Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams and Jordan Goodwin, while adding Luke Kennard and drafting Koa Peat at No. 30.
The Suns traded Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale to Charlotte for Miles Bridges and draft compensation, while their projected starting group features Gillespie, Jalen Green, Brooks, Bridges and Williams.
