The New York Knicks temporarily suspended individual-game ticket sales after an internal pricing error resulted in significantly higher prices than intended.
When sales opened Wednesday, some listings were unusually expensive, including a minimum above $1,000 for the season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. Opening-night tickets initially averaged around $2,500.
The Knicks plan to resume sales early next week with prices averaging roughly 12% above last season, matching the increase for season-ticket holders.
Fans who already purchased tickets will receive refunds for the difference.
“We are pausing Knicks individual ticket sales due to a mistake in our pricing,” an MSG spokesperson told The Post. “We are rolling back to last year’s prices plus an average increase of 12%.
“We will restart sales with new prices shortly, and anyone who already purchased individual tickets will be refunded the difference.
“Our intention was never to overcharge our loyal fans, and we thank everyone for their support of the Knicks and their patience as we get this right.”
A source said the mistake was a first for MSG and was not an attempt to raise prices dramatically following the Knicks’ championship season.
Ticket prices at Madison Square Garden have increased during the team’s recent success, including four consecutive playoff appearances.
The corrected prices will still be higher than last season but far below those initially listed.
