Jonathan Kuminga ultimately picked the Minnesota Timberwolves after deciding they offered the strongest basketball situation and an opportunity to start at power forward for a Western Conference contender.

Minnesota made an aggressive push to land the 23-year-old, with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball directly involved in recruiting him.

Team president Tim Connelly and owner Alex Rodriguez also participated in the effort to convince Kuminga that Minnesota was the right destination.

The chance to earn a starting role while joining an established contender played a major part in Kuminga’s decision.
