In a recent episode of The Shop, LeBron James reminisced about his near-unanimous MVP win back in 2013, where he received 120 of 121 first-place votes, with the lone dissenting vote going to Carmelo Anthony.

During the discussion, James hinted at his desire to reveal the identity of the writer who denied him the unanimous MVP title, suggesting it was someone from Boston.

“I also had an opportunity too, I would have been the first unanimous MVP where I got all 120 votes, but I got 119… It was the one vote, he voted for Carmelo [Anthony]… It was a writer from Boston of course… I know his name too, but I ain’t going to give him that light just yet. I’ll wait for the doc on that one,” James said.

However, James seemed to forget that the writer, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, had publicly acknowledged his vote for Anthony shortly after the MVP voting results were announced.

Washburn’s decision to vote for Anthony instead of James drew widespread attention and debate within the basketball community at the time.

While James jokingly threatened to unveil the writer’s identity, the revelation had already been made years ago by Washburn himself, leaving little mystery about the voter’s affiliation.
