The Los Angeles Lakers clinched a playoff spot with a hard-fought 110-106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in the Western Conference play-in tournament.

LeBron James led the charge for the Lakers with 23 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds. Anthony Davis, who finished with a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, played a vital role in securing the win for the Lakers.

However, the Pelicans’ Zion Williamson stole the show with a remarkable performance, tallying 40 points and 11 rebounds before leaving the game due to an apparent injury.

Despite Williamson’s heroic efforts, the Lakers capitalized on crucial plays down the stretch, including a clutch jumper from James and a pivotal dunk by Davis.

With the victory, the Lakers advance to face the defending champion Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Last season the Nuggets swept the Lakers in conference finals.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans face a must-win situation against the Sacramento Kings to secure the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Lakers’ victory was fueled by their balanced scoring attack, with contributions from James, Davis, and DeAngelo Russell, who chipped in with 21 points. Austin Reaves added 16 points, five rebounds, and six assists.

Despite a valiant effort from the Pelicans, who staged a late comeback to tie the game, they ultimately fell short in their quest for a playoff berth.
